Michael Moncure, MD, FACS, is a member of TMC’s Department of Surgery. He is a Professor of Surgery at UMKC and the Paul Coffey Endowed Chair of Surgery for Education. He was raised in Oakland California and attended Bishop O’Dowd High school. He obtained a BS degree in Biomedical Engineering. Afterwards Dr. Moncure received his medical degree from the University of Washington School of Medicine. He completed an internship and residency with Howard University Hospital and a surgical critical care/trauma fellowship at the University of Maryland ShockTrauma Center. He joins TMC from The University of Kansas Medical Center, where he served most recently as Medical Director for Trauma, Surgical Critical Care, and the Center for Concussion Management as a Professor of Surgery for 19 years. He and colleagues established KU as an ACS Level I trauma center in 2000.
Dr. Moncure has authored over 50 scientific papers performed many presentations at National, International and Regional meetings. Dr Moncure has received many honors and awards, including being named one of Ingram’s Magazine Top Doctors. Dr. Moncure has special interest in Violence Prevention, Surgical Education, Shock, Sepsis and Surgical Outcomes as well as appropriate and efficient surgical and medical billing and capture of charges.
Rebecca Cerro has spent 15 years in the Trauma environment. Seven years as a Trauma Registrar and eight years focusing on Trauma and General Surgery coding and billing. Mrs. Cerro holds two certifications through the AAPC and one with AHIMA. She also holds a BS in Health InformationManagement. During her career, Mrs. Cerro focused on provider education and process improvement.
